one more thing...

Okay, so a friend of mine dropped by tonight to buy one more nativity-- I told her, the house is very messy and i am in the middle of studying (and i had just gotten back from fernbank- yay 10 points!!). she said, no problem-- i'm in a hurry, i'll just pop in and get it and give you a check, then i'm out of here. Okay. well, she's awesome and we always talk too much (me??), and she came inside and ended up staying for a little while. the thing is, the christmas tree smells funny. i'm serious. it's dead, dead, dead and not taking the water we put in the base, so the water has something funky going on. it's just started today, but of course i notice it like crazy when a friend comes over--- a friend who has a 13' tree in her house, which is perfect in every way. anyway, we laugh about the smell and sit down to look at something, and as we're talking, i hear something. something in the tree. friends, i did not know what it was, but i was about to fall over. i couldn't believe it. i didn't say anything, hoping it was nothing. half hoping it was just a fire and not a mouse :). all of a sudden, my friend looks at the top of the tree--- dearly beloved, it was a ROACH. OH MAN!!!! i ran to the bathroom for toilet paper to get it out, and apparently missed because a few minutes later, here it came again.

well, we just laughed and laughed, but it was so embarressing. i told her not to tell anyone, and here i am telling it myself, but it was just really funny.

i welcome all other embarressing stories...

bugs are known to live in live trees all the time, but a live tree is always superior to a faux.

i agree a MILLION percent jonathan. i'm sure there are some beautiful fake (faux:)) trees out there, but it's just not the same to me if it's not real...bugs or no bugs.

and callie, with me in the world, you will never be alone for embarressing moment partner. in fact, i'm fairly certain that i have misspelled the word embarressing about 7 times now, and, well, that's a little embarressing... :)

Our tree died too. We already bought another one and decorated it. We're going to burn the dead one at Katey's birthday party.

:) AMAZING-- i have NEVER heard that before---- i'll have to try it next year, though, because unless it actually raises trees from the dead, it will only serve to make the living room (um, and thus the whole house...) smell like a rotten fuzzy navel. and that's just gross.

is that what your folks do with their tree? how close is the cat alllowed to get to the base of the tree??? :)

I hate cats. There are no cats in my home, so I guess the rule is the cat can only get within gunshot range--once...

so I suppose I should clear up the previous statement, because I forget that there are people who really are that mean to animals. I am not one of those people. Although I really don't like cats, my confrontations with cats have never gone further than verbal insults, and that has only been when the cats have provoked ME...
